June Business Spotlight: Blonde Magnolia Hair Co.

Meet Leanna Langford!  Leanna is the owner of Blonde Magnolia Hair Co. in Jefferson.  Leanna is married to Tyler and they have a 19-month-old son named Bowen.  Leanna is originally from Franklin County and her husband is from Jefferson.  Tyler owns a local chicken farm where they live in Maysville.  Leanna lived and worked in Athens for eight years before renting a suite in a salon in Jefferson with her assistant, Brookanne.

After a year, Leanna decided to pursue her dream of owning her own salon and opened the doors to Blonde Magnolia Hair Co.  The salon will celebrate THREE years in August.  When they first opened the salon, they quickly outgrew their location.  Thankfully a spot a couple of doors down opened up and Leanna was able to move into a bigger space about a year ago.

Being a hairstylist runs in Leanna’s family.  Her grandmother who is 81 years old is also a hairstylist for TV shows and movies and drives to Atlanta for work.  She was the Key Hairstylist for the series, Stranger Things and was nominated for an Emmy.  Leanna knew that she wanted to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps and be a hairstylist when she was in the 7th grade.

Blonde Magnolia opened in August of 2019 with 4 people and today Leanna has a salon full of hairstylists, assistants, and apprentices.  They also offer spray tans, HydraFacials, lashes, PMU brows, Botox and fillers.

Q:  What’s on your bucket list or what’s a long-term goal you hope to achieve?

“My long-term goal is to open a second location in Athens.  I worked in Athens for eight years and a lot of my original clients are there.  We’ve grown a lot in Jefferson, but I don’t want to make the salon much bigger because I like the size that it is.  So, expanding into Athens is a definite possibility.  I’m not sure when that will happen but that would be my long-term goal.”

Q:  What’s your favorite thing about Jefferson?

“I love that Jefferson is growing, but it still has the small-town feel.  I love going into the coffee shop and they know who I am.  It just makes you feel good, you know.  I feel like I’m a part of this community even though I haven’t been here that long.  I also love how the businesses support each other.”

Q:  What is the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

In my season of life, what comes to mind is don’t wake a sleeping baby!  Also, my mom always told me to never settle.  Don’t settle in life and don’t settle in business.  Fight for your goals and work to see your dreams become a reality.”

Q:  Tell us something good happening in your life?

“My son is the best thing that has happened in my life.  I also feel very fortunate in business to have great women that want to work with me.  I work with awesome people that have made my business what it is.”

I have had the pleasure of knowing Leanna since she first came to Jefferson.  I have watched as she’s worked hard to pursue her dreams and not only has she achieved them, but she has absolutely killed it.  I knew early on that Leanna was an outstanding businesswoman and I am so proud to watch her living out her dream.
